WASHINGTON, D.C. (WALA) - The U.S. Department of Defense website says a Vermont company has been awarded a contract to dismantle the former U.S.S. Enterprise (CVN 65), with work to be performed in Mobile.

Specifically, hazardous materials, including low-level radioactive waste, will be packaged and safely transported for disposal at authorized licensed sites.

The website says the work is expected to be completed by November 2029, but it doesn’t give further details.
