🏙️ Roma

Rome, the Eternal City, capital of Italy, is one of the most important and fascinating cities in the world, full of history, art and culture. Its iconic monuments, such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, St. Peter's Basilica and the Pantheon, bear witness to centuries of history. Rome is famous for its museums, art galleries and lively squares such as Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps. The city smells of millenary history, but at the same time it presents itself as a cosmopolitan center that blends tradition and modernity.

Stage 21: route

Final stage divided into two parts: approach, from the start in Rome-EUR to the first crossing of the finish line, passing through the coast and then Ostia, to return to the starting area and then the final circuit (8 laps) inside the Capital. The 9.5 km circuit runs entirely along the city streets (wide, but with some lane dividers). It alternates short undulations and long straights joined by some complicated curves. The pavement is mainly asphalt, with some short stretches on pavement (known as "sanpietrini").

Final kilometers with only slight variations in direction. Final straight of 350 m on asphalt, with a width of 8 m. Halfway through the last kilometer there is a 5% ramp.

Summary of the previous stage

Totally unexpected Giro in the plot of this movie! Simon Yates showed strength to put in an attack that ended the Latin aspirations of staying with the Giro d'Italia and even without winning a stage he hangs the maglia rosa to become the virtual champion of the competition in the absence of the ride in the city of Rome. Isaac del Toro will be second, in addition to being champion of the young riders and Richard Carapaz will have to settle for third place.
