City landfill switching to summer hours

The City of Minot landfill will begin summer hours on April 14.

During summer hours, the landfill will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The landfill is located at 4450 37th Ave. SW.

Residents bringing any items to the landfill, including household hazardous materials, should stop at the scale house directly inside the gate, where employees will direct them to the proper location.

“We accept household hazardous materials, like chemicals, old paints and stains and used motor oil, all year round,” Sanitation Superintendent Josh Kraft said. “Residents don’t have to wait for our spring household hazardous waste collection event. They can bring their items to the landfill any time we’re open.”

Spring clean-up week is set for April 28-May 2, with the Household Hazardous Waste/E-waste collection scheduled for May 2-3 at Public Works, 1025 31st St SE, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.

The fall clean-up week is scheduled for Sept. 8-12. The city will not hold a HHW/E-waste collection event in the fall.
