Weld County residents will again have the opportunity to dump unwanted items for free starting next month after the Department of Public Health and Environment announced it is bringing back its landfill voucher program.

Through the program, residents can request a voucher that allows them to dump either a truckload — level with bed rails — or a trailer weighing up to a ton free of charge at the North Weld Landfill, 40000 Weld County Road 25 in Ault, or the Front Range Landfill, 1830 Weld 5 in Erie, according to a county news release.

The North Weld Landfill is open 7 a.m., to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m., to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. The Front Range Landfill is open from 6 a.m., to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m., to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Registration is open, and the vouchers will be valid from April 1 through June 2.

To register for a voucher, go to Weld.gov/go/hhw and select, “request a voucher.” Once requested, residents can pick up the voucher at either the North Weld County Hazardous Waste Facility, 1311 N. 17th St., in Greeley or the South Weld Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 5500 Colo. Highway 52 in Dacono.

The North Facility is open from 8 a.m., to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The South Facility is open from 9 a.m., to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Residents will be responsible for any charges exceeding the voucher limit, according to the release. For details about acceptable items or other landfill questions, the county asks residents to contact the facilities directly.
