KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - A glitch could make it a little more confusing to complete spring cleaning in Kansas City, Kan., this weekend.

The Unified Government said it is aware of an issue impacting people who report missed trash or recycling collecting online. It is an issue for anyone trying to report the issue through Waste Management’s website or mobile app.

The county says residents may see a message telling them to contact the Unified Government about the issue. The message is an error.

County leaders said reports submitted through the website and app are still reaching Waste Management.

Waste Management said it is working to fix the issue. It could be resolved as soon as April 10.

“We understand how frustrating it can be when residents don’t receive clear information about their waste collection services,” Diana Miles, Solid Waste Manager for the Unified Government, said. “Although the system displays an incorrect message, reports are still being processed. We appreciate everyone’s patience while WM works on a fix.”

The issue happened after customer service shifted responsibility for handling trash and recycling from the 3-1-1 call center to Waste Management’s customer service in February.
