Volunteers sought to work at Kane vaccination centers

The Kane County Health Department is seeking medical and nonmedical volunteers to work at one of the three COVID-19 vaccination centers in Elgin, Batavia and Aurora.

Medical volunteers will provide shots and nonmedical volunteers typically help in support roles, such as symptom triage, greeting, registration and form distribution, medical screening, flow monitoring, vaccine checkout and data entry, according to Claudia Reginato, the county’s Medical Reserve Corps coordinator.

There is no minimum time commitment and nonmedical volunteers will receive training during their first shift, Reginato said in a news release. Bilingual volunteers, particularly those who speak Spanish or Hindi, are welcome, she said.

To apply, go to the Kane County Health Department website, . Applications should be sent to kaneMRC@co.kane.il.us.

Volunteer candidates for the vaccination clinics in Aurora and Elgin can apply at aurora-il.org/service or cityofelgin.org/vaxvolunteer. Applications for the Batavia clinic and more information in general can be found at kanehealth.com (click on the Kane County MRC logo in the bottom of the page).
