Hurricane Irma in Alabama updated list: What's open? What's closed on Tuesday, Sept. 12?

The remnants of Hurricane Irma are making their way through Alabama, bringing heavy rains and gusty winds.

Irma will make its way through Alabama as a tropical depression with winds around 40 mph. A wind advisory remains in place though 4 a.m. Tuesday with guests as high as 50 mph possible and up to 3 inches of rain in a band stretching from southcentral Alabama to the northern part of the state.

Numerous schools and colleges are closing as result of the storm. You can see a list of school closures here.

Several businesses and municipalities are planning on remaining closed on Tuesday, Sept. 12. This list will be updated as information is available.

Autauga, Elmore, Montgomery

Central Alabama Aging locations in Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery closed Tuesday

Anniston

Anniston City Hall is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The Aquatic Center opening will be delayed to open at 8 a.m.

Auburn

Garbage pickup will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week as follows:

  • Tuesday's route will run on Wednesday
  • Wednesday's route will run on Thursday
  • Thursday's route will run on Friday

All other city operations are scheduled to continue as planned.

Birmingham

The Birmingham hearing office of the Social Security Administration is closed Tuesday.

Calhoun County

All Calhoun County offices will be closed Sept. 12.

Decatur

Decatur Municipal Court's Dockets for Tuesday are canceled.

Dothan City

All Dothan Governmental office will be open on Tuesday. Normal operations for all government buildings.

Fort Rucker

Fort Rucker will be open and operational Tuesday. Training will resume. Faulkner and Newton gates will be open during their normal operating hours.

Houston County

All Houston County Governmental office will be open on Tuesday.

Huntsville

Redstone Arsenal and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville will be closed Tuesday. The installation remained open Monday.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center closed Tuesday.

Huntsville & Madison

YMCA Early Childhood Education Centers in Madison County will be closed Sept. 12.

YMCA Downtown Early Childhood Education Center

YMCA Northwest Early Childhood Education Center

YMCA Southeast Early Childhood Education Center

Y Branches in Huntsville and Madison will be open.

Afterschool and outdoor sports are canceled. Swim Lessons will take place as scheduled.

Jefferson County

Jefferson County civil court will resume Tuesday at noon.

Montgomery

Meals on Wheels will not be delivered Tuesday due to weather conditions from Hurricane Irma. The regular Meals on Wheels schedule will resume on Wednesday.

Phenix City

Phenix City Administrative offices will remain closed through Tuesday Sept. 12. All administrative offices will resume normal business operations on Sept. 13.

Russell County

All non-emergency county offices in Russell County, Alabama, including the courthouse and judicial buildings, will be closed Sept. 12. All government buildings plan to reopen on Sept. 13, depending on conditions.

Troy

All city services will resume normal operations Tuesday.
